Root Engineering Services, P.C. (RES) is a venture dedicated to providing professional and ethical consulting engineering services in the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and industrial trades. As a small consulting firm, RES will focus on customer service, and exceeding the expectations of every client.
RES is headed by Richard Root. A Mechanical Engineer by education, Rich is a Registered Professional Engineer since 1986 and is licensed in Illinois, Wisconsin, and three other states. He has earned the distinction of Certified Professional Engineer by the National Council of Examiners of Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES). He has twenty five years of solid design and consulting experience.
Adam Harris joined RES in November 2005; he has brought additional insight and productivity to the firm. A Mechanical Engineer by education, from Texas A&M, Adam is a registered Professional Engineer, licensed in Illinois.
RES offers design services in most mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) fields. If you are in need of heating/ ventilating/ air conditioning systems design or trouble shooting, RES offers considerable experience with unitary split systems, packaged rooftop units, hydronic chilled and hot water systems including water chillers, variable air volume systems, indoor air quality problems, industrial ventilation and heating, kitchen hoods, and others. Electrical services are offered in lighting layouts, architectural lighting schemes, outside area lighting and photometrics, general and 'clean' power systems, transient and harmonic power problems, service retrofits and upgrades, general electrical distribution, industrial electrical designs, elevator installations, generator and UPS systems, and fire alarms. Plumbing design experience includes commercial and residential plumbing systems, kitchen systems, industrial piping, plumbing retrofits, waste water treatment and plumbing problem trouble shooting.
Other MEP engineering services are available. RES can help with feasibility studies, site adapting corporate/franchise criteria drawings, MEP master plans, and troubleshooting studies. Customers may desire an abbreviated design (which keeps design fees low), or fully detailed design/ specification preparations. The choice of fully integrated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, or designs in any single discipline are offered. Construction administration services can be provided at any level of oversight desired. It is a basic business philosophy of RES to meet the customer’s needs, and tailor services to fit each job.
RES has experience designing a wide variety of facility types including School and University projects (new and renovation), office complexes, retail facilities, public buildings, restaurant/bar projects, and industrial equipment installation jobs. A specialty is fast
tracked projects which demand rapid turnaround of biddable documents. RES understands deadlines, and takes pride in meeting schedules which others considers impossible. Budgets are also understood. When necessary, materials and methods can be chosen which can meet any reasonable budget,
with best possible performance.
